Standard submission is for non-commercial web sites only. The service is free. However, Yahoo! make no time guarantees of when your site will be reviewed.
Yahoo! Express submission is for commercial and non-commercial web sites. It guarantees a site review within 7 business days for a non-refundable US$299 ($600 for sites with adult content) submission fee.
However, payment doesn't guarantee inclusion in the directory. It only guarantees that Yahoo! will review your web site within 7 business days. If your web site is added to the Yahoo! Directory, you will be charged the non-refundable fee, every 12 months.
Open Directory Project is the largest human-edited web directory with over 3.8 million reviewed sites. Its index is used by many of top search engines, including Google, AOL and Netscape. So it's essential that you submit your web site to the index. The Open Directory Project has a page on how to add a site to the Open Directory. All submissions are free.
